Da Long Yì Hotpot

“It was very very good and tasty. The staff was kind and helped us order. When we finished we had some food left and asked for a box to bring it with us and they gave us all of that. They're also halal options for those who are interested. You just have to ask and they'll explain how it works. For the food itself: you can choose up to 3 soup bases and then everything that comes with it so meat, rise, noodles, vegetables and even more. I wouldn't say it's cheap but for the experience and the quality of the food and the taste it's really worth it.”

“OH ..... MY ..... GOODNESS, I don't lightly give compliments to Chinese restaurants, but what an amaaaaazing experience our visit was. My BFF had invited me out to dinner and initially had planned a Korean hotpot, but The Hague no longer has a Korean hotpot restaurant, only Korean BBQ. So we ended up at Sichuan restaurant Da Long Yi. We had arrived early, because we always like to eat around 5 pm, so it was not very busy yet but the people that were there, were mostly Asian. A very good sign. The welcome alone was refreshing and lifted our mood. It was cold, windy and raining and due to the public transportation system being down, it had taken us an hour the get there from home, where it usually takes 15 minutes, and thus we missed 25 minutes of the allocated 150 minutes all you can eat time. The ambiance of the restaurant was also very welcoming, modern Chinese. The lovely Chinese lady who had welcomed us, escorted us to our table and explained how things worked: it was our first time. Finding out what the menu was, was a bit challenging at first but we quickly got the hang of it. And then the real adventure began. You don't place your orders with the waiting staff, but via a QR-code on your table using your smartphone; select the items you want, put them in your basket and click 'order'. Within about 1 minute after my BFF had placed the order, the ingredients for the first hotpot round were delivered at our table. EVERYTHING was fresh, of the BEST quality and the various tastes were a joy for the tastebuds. The service was impeccable. We ordered a bottle of table water and a cold tea drink. One word: DELICIOUS! For my BFF and me the evening was already a huge success, and we had just started. We managed three hotpot round adventures and were like little children; each round discovering new ingredients and tastes. But I was about to be brought to tears at the end: dessert. Extremely thinly shaved fresh mango ice dessert. The last time a dessert made me tear up was about 30 years ago. We will most certainly visit this restaurant many times, because their food is soooooo good and there are so many items on the menu to choose from. And...... because their food, service and ambiance are so good, the cost of dining there doesn't matter. IT IS A REAL TREAT TO EAT HERE!”
